"The New and Gauley are under fished and overpopulated! The Smallmouth and Muskie fishing are execellent! I am looking foward to coming back very soon."
Bass wishes, Roland Martin
The New River Gorge National River in southern West Virginia is one of the top smallmouth fishing rivers in the Eastern United States. This protected 53 mile section of river meanders through a beautifully forested canyon, and float fishing is without a doubt the angler's best means of accessing this amazing resource.
From early spring until late autumn, the New River is abundant with smallmouth, Kentucky spotted bass, rock bass, catfish, crappie and bluegill, with trophy smallmouth bass being the most plentiful.
Guests on our full day New River fishing trips will float anywhere from 5 to 15 miles of river (depending on water levels) and explore a wide variety of smallmouth habitat. Having fished this section of river all of our lives, we are confident that we can help you make the most of your float fishing experience in West Virginia.

The Gauley River flows from its source high in the West Virginia Appalachian Mountains. It runs cold, clean and clear, and provides the angler with an entirely different fishing experience than that of the New River. The Gauley is stocked regularly at the base of Summersville Dam, and is a popular destination for trout fishermen, but few people take advantage of the amazing float fishing opportunities available downstream. The 26 mile section of river known as the Gauley River National Recreation Area is a steep and rugged canyon and provides very little access to the onshore fisherman. After floating past the anglers at the dam's tailwaters, it is likely that you will have the fish all to yourself as you take in the pristine beauty of this amazing wilderness canyon.
The Gauley's swift currents, boulders, and deep pools provide an ideal habitat for rainbow and golden rainbow trout, brook and brown trout, musky, walleye and further downstream small and largemouth bass. Because of the limited number of access points to this section of river, there are no half-day fishing trips on the Gauley.

We offer half-day hybrid striper bass fishing trips on a four mile section of the Upper New River deep in southern West Virginia. On these unique excursions, we spend 4-5 hours in pursuit of this amazing fish by concentrating our efforts on large eddies where the striper schools move upstream. On our guided fishing trips, we have reeled in stripers weighting as much as ten pounds. We recommend live bait and large plugs. There is also ample oppurtunity to land trophy size WV New River small mouth while in pursuit of the stripers. We supply snacks and beverages on all half day expeditions.
